The name Flipmood first appeared as a brand name for custom iPhone covers. Back then, it was a little enterprise aiming at creating a community of talented graphic designers and screen print their creations on iPhone covers. This project is one of the outcomes of a reflexion on the iPhone as an object and as a symbol. There are more outcomes coming soon!

The iPhone is an icon, but it also became a standard, loosing its uniqueness and originality. In some place, it has become the most common phone in middle to high-income urban communities. Having unique covers to hide their normality - and in my personal case, terrible dents and scratches!! - makes complete sense. It makes so much sense that all the Apple cover suppliers on Earth had similar views at similar times. We basically had our first sample when we should be selling it. So we dropped it, but we kept the name. We indeed soon realized Flipmood as a name fitted our views beyond simple plastic covers.
